Many of you have seen or read in the news that there has been a rise in female voices coming forward about being sexually harassed.
If you are currently experiencing inappropriate behavior such as your boss touching you or making sexual/suggestive comments and you feel ashamed or humiliated, please speak to your Human Resources department right away, transfer, or leave.
If you had feelings for your boss and he has never asked you out or he is married yet he tries to force himself on you – This is not someone you want any kind of relationship with. Have him investigated for such behaviour or sue him. If you are also a sexual abuse or rape survivor, please consider therapy. Peace of mind is very important and using your voice to get justice can help others.
If you are on a first date and the guy starts touching you inappropriately (i.e. trying to touch your breasts or go up your skirt) – END THE DATE and never see or have contact with this man again. Block him and delete his number. However, if you have felt because you’ve dressed femininely at work or wherever and that’s why this has happened – It’s not true! I know some women struggle with dressing femininely and some are uncomfortable with it, even now due to previous experiences or due to feeling triggered by these stories in the media. Whether you see yourself as a rules girl or not, please do not blame yourself for what has happened or is happening. Every red-blooded man is responsible for his own thoughts and actions. If you’re going through this and worry if your next manager will attempt the same thing, just remember you have a voice and not every man in power will abuse his authority.
I hope this has been helpful and encouraging to those who are or who have experienced this.
Please share this post as you may just give another woman and survivor the strength to fight back and get justice!
